Numero Group ... very impressive new label. While they specialize in soul, they stray a bit here and there. For such a young label, their exceeding quality (of both musical choices and quality of pressings) is impressive to say the least. Check the site:

Good God! A Gospel Funk Hymnal
Yes, a funky gospel compilation of the highest order. Now, I'm not an avid follower of the Christian faith so I avoided this one for a hot minute thinking it to be a bit too Lord-oriented for my taste. I grabbed it up on a whim, recently, and have been utterly amazed. Whether or not you get all fired up for the Lord, this record is well worth your attention ... absolutely some of the finest funky soul music I've ever heard. Full recommendation. Just check the previews here.
Antena - Camino Del Soul
"French-Belgian Electro Samba"? This group was a big influence on groups like Stereolab, Broadcast and, most recently, Mahogany (who are a bit too derivative for me to be too too excited about ... but good nevertheless). The record was recorded in 1982 and certainly displays the group's awareness of the post-punk scene (ever so slightly ... this is pretty stuff here). Its just so nice and minimal. Must have. Just listen.
